This is my second Greek coin and it came attributed. Obv: Head of Herakles right, wearing lion's skin headdress.Rev: FILIPPOY. Zeus seated left, holding eagle and sceptre. Monograms left in field and under throne.Weight: 4.2 gm.Diameter: 18 mm. The coin has a bit of wear but I kind of prefer a bit of circulation wear on these. I don't think I over paid too much on this but am curious on what others think.

Nice, well-defined Herakles!
I agree--the wear looks good!

That seems like a very good price for this coin in this condition. I really don't collect Greek coins (although I have a few) because I don't know enough about them, especially in order to tell real from fake. If I were to buy a coin of this nature I would only buy from a reputable dealer with a 100% guarantee of authenticity for life. Hopefully you purchased from a reputable dealer. I have no reason to doubt your coin's authenticity except that the price seems low. If it is authentic, I think you got a great deal on a fine coin.

jwharper, I also share your sentiment on Greek coins. This was purchased from a dealer on vcoins that I have done business with in the past, Gitbud-Naumann.

I believe the price is reasonable. For a reason hard for me to understand, there is less demand for Philip coins than for Alexanders so sometimes the price is lower but this is a decent looking coin worth a decent price.

That's definitely a nice coin. Too expensive for my blood though. Congratulations!

A lifetime Alexander drachm would be a bit more--very nice buy!
