I tried to scan this coin for people to look at but I see that there are no drivers for a cannon d2400u that work with windows 7 (Thanks microsoft for making my scanner junk)

Anyway the coin I want to know more about is this 1930 Belgium 5 centime piece. It has a central hole and is made of a silvery metal (Cu-Ni probably) It is circulated but seems to have lost none of its details.

On one side of the coin it says 5 Cen with a branch of leaves curling around the central hole.

On the other side of the coin above the hole is a crown under neath the hole it says 1930 but the interesting thing is that where my 1905 version of this coin says Royaume de Belgique this coin says Royaume de Belgie.

When I last inspected this coin nearly 20 years ago I attached a label to the packet saying "rare" but I dont recall how I ascertained that.

Hmm, that would be an extremely rare error. ;) But I think yours says "Koninkrijk België" - that would be the Dutch version of the country name (Royaume de Belgique is the French version.)

I don't think it's rare or expensive. An "unc" piece may cost €5, but circulated ones are €1 maybe ...

Ahh you are right sorry... wasn't paying attention to the first bit of writing, just noted the "Belgie"

There was a piece of paper with the coin saying XF 60.00 Unc 120.00...(more than 20 years old that paper) which is what got my hopes up.

Anyway now I found out a little more... by copying and pasting the writing into google it tells me 3,000,000 were minted in 1930 with dutch text.

This is the coin but mine is 1930 http://en.numista.com/catalogue/pie....mobile.html

(I hope its ok to post that link, if not I apologise and please remove it)

I also see one on ebay for £4.95... so that is a bit of a dissapointment :(

Thanks for your help :)
