hi , everybody !!
I am new on this forum , and I hope this is the right place to be , because I see many members are very experts in numismatic art .

recently I receive a 2001 $100 bill and on the right of the FRANKLIN head is a big blue star printed . I don't know exactly what that is mean . Is a very rare $100 bill ? How much is worth ? Why after long search on all the internet , I don't find not even one similar ?
Also , on the other side of the bill , on the lower angle right , under 100 are 2 small triangle with 2 small capital letter A .

I need help from somebody how knows something about this $100 bill. Thanks , DANIEL

It sure is,it's the best coin/currency forum on the net .Your note is no rarity and is worth only face value, sorry. It has been stamped after leaving the BEP and would be hard to say who or why they did it.

If you search stacks of notes, you'll come across a lot of these kinds of things. People get stamps and stamp pads and mark everything including banknotes. You'll find happy faces, initials, all kinds of stuff.

They are the paper money equivalent of chop marks on coins. They are applied by merchants to show the note is genuine.

i know that stamps like the 2 triangle are very common to this bills , but the star is something different , which was there from beginning , and is print not stamp like the 2 triangles . I see the same kind of star printed on the $1 bill from 1878 , with the black eagle . Can have some connection ? Thanks , DANIEL

The star is a post-printing ink stamp, it was definitely not done by the BEP. There is no connection at all to the 19th century Black Eagle notes, the star on those notes indicated a replacement note and that star will always be next to the serial number. The stars currently used for replacement notes are much smaller, of a different shape, and always printed with green ink- bright blue ink is not currently used on any US currency.

Daniel!

And the star (asterisk) is always found at the end of the serial # (it replaces the eighth digit). Not at some random place on the note.
