I came upon this today and I was intrigued.

Charles Barber designed a medal?
Well, there is a lot more to the story and I would appreciate it if one of the medal collectors
can corroborate my assessment.

The reverse of this medal reminded me of the Columbian Half Dollar.
I knew that the reverse was not designed by Barber and the Red Book
reveled that the reverse was designed by a G. T. Morgan.
Could it be the same George T. Morgan that designed the famous dollar?

It gets better folks.

Look closely at the obverse of the medal.

Along the bottom, barely visible,
I read the words:
AVGVSTVS.SAINT.GAVDENS.FECIT

No mention of this is made by the seller!

So,
the man who designed the Dollar in 1878 and the reverse of the half dollar commemorative in 1892
the man who would design the 20 dollar gold piece in 1907
and the man who ran the Mint and who would "borrow" a good design when he saw one

ALL brought together?!

Feedback appreciated.

I wish I knew something about it. It is truly magnificent.
