Oh, you know that I'll definitely post pictures if and when I purchase any. I'm not planning on buying any more gold unless and until it drops below $1500, though.

BarryG - I really have been eyeing this particular gold piece myself. I just haven't pulled the trigger yet. I kinda regret not buying a 1943 at a coin show for a litle over spot but these come and go.

Try to snag a 1943 if you can.

In terms of scarcity, the 1943 coin is unique and also rare, with a mintage of 89,000 coins. Other low mintage years were 1931 with 137,000 coins and 1921 with 180,000 coins.

barryg, I don't think you are going to see gold under $1500. Too many things going on in the financial markets.

That could well be the case, IGE. Do you think that we have already seen the 2012 lows for gold prices?

Crazy side note, I saw 3 NGC Graded MS60 $20 Libs go for $1,500 each today at auction. I didn't have the cash to buy all three or I would have though the guy that won them was over paying on everything else. He paid $29 per for a bag of 57 Morgan/Peace Dollars def nothing special.

Ed_B, gold seems to have a lot of support at the $1550-1560 level. Not sure what to expect come September which is usually a soft month but I expect gold to remain above that $1550 mark. If QE-3 gets started as uncle Ben mentioned, we will be off to the $1700 mark.

Yes, it does. I think that it dropped into the $1520s very briefly but the $1550-1560 area was fairly stable for a bit.

I agree that more useless QE will push up the prices of stocks and PMs. This is called inflation, not growth. It is unfortunate that the Fed seems either unable or unwilling to discern the difference. This QE business is really torquing me off. It isn't working because it is not addressing the REAL problem in the economy, yet the Fed is like a dog with a rag in its teeth and just will not let go.

As for myself, I plan to hold my stocks and mutual funds until QE3, or whatever they will choose to call this iteration, and then sell the whole shebang and go to about 75% cash and 25% PMs. I will wait out the market because it is working on another dive, IMHO.
