In another thread, it was brought up that this coin is different from other "solder w/standards" coins. While it does look somewhat different, I do not think this is rare. Certainly RIC does not consider it rare, giving it a C2 rating. I have it attributed as an AE3 Follis of Constantine I RIC VII 345 struck at Arles in 330-335 AD:

Constantinvs-Max

Constantinvs-Max

OBV: CONSTANTI-NVS MAX AVG, rosette-diademed, draped and cuirassed bust right
REV: GLOR-IA EXERC-ITVS, two soldiers holding spears and shields with two standards between them with dots on banners. Star above the standards. PCONST in ex.
2.20g, 17mm

Lol steve....

I believe you jw when you say it isn't rare, but I'll admit that it's the first time I've seen that standard style.

I've spent some time going through Helvetic's list on "solders w/standards", and there are several coins from Arles listed for Constantine I, Constantine II, and Constantius II with "very thin poles". I've looked at the images available, and, although close, none quite look like this coin. Most you can easily discern each standard even though they are very close together. Perhaps it was just the luck of this die cutter to get it too close so that it looks like a single standard. In any case, I think this is a common enough coin design. Just a little different from most.

That explains why the standard (now I know there's actually two) looks a little different; its pretty much an optical illusion (at least for me) that resulted from the way the engraver cut the die, and I thought it was simply one weird-looking standard.

Nice piece with high quality die cutting, that would be good enough for a solidus die. I would much rather have this 'C2' coin than a much rarer poor condition LRB.

Interesting design for sure and a very nice example JW!!

Here is a example that coinproject lists as RIC VII 345:

I'd call it a keeper (unless you decide to trade it for something you like better). It has interesting and different style but strikes me as consistent with the era so I don't think it is modern or barbarous.
