Thanks for all of the opinions about the grade. What's the difference between a G-4 grade and a G-6 grade? The grading link provided earlier in the thread goes from G-4 to G-8 with no mention of a G-6.

G-4 (Good) - Major devices and features are evident as outlines. although the coin overall is heavily worn.

G-6 (Good-plus) - Coin has a full rim plus major devices and features are clearly outlined. Heavy wear.

VG-8 (Very Good) - Full rim with clearly discernable devices and features. Most legends are readable clearly, but the whole coin is still significantly worn.

I'd give your coin a G-6.

Thanks for the great link Senex. Is there a value difference between G-4 and G-6? Or is such a grade difference only useful from a collector's standpoint?

Nicklesguy, I'm curious. Can you tell me why you think the coin is VF?

I said the coin is vg. I believe it is. With a reverse like that, fully there, all legends both sides, it is a VG, not a G. IMO People look at the crown of 25 cent vickie coins......wrong! again in my opinion. The coin has 2 sides, but people (most) only grade from one side. That better date 25 cent coin is worth VG money all day. again, IMO

Sorry but that's no VG.

Maybe I'm old school, but I'd wager $100 ICCS wouldn't grade it a VG.

It is a Fine though if 'asyn' is grading it.

Asyn is a seller on ebay who overgrades at least 3 grades.

Wow. Is he not reported or flagged? Or is it buyer beware which allows him to be wickedly unethical? Also, what is your opinion regarding the grade of the coin? G-4 to G-6 seems to be the consensus. Although I would love to fall on the side of Nicklesguy who sees it as VG. But, this is my first attempt trying to establish a grade and I think it wise to base it on the consensus of the experienced.

Except in the case where a coin is only worth its bullion value, a higher grade will generally cause the value of the coin to increase.
This is especially true in Mint State (MS) coins but also applies even to G4 and G6 coins.

If G-4 is valued at 100.00 to 150.00 and VG is valued at 340.00, what would be the G-6 value?

The value of any coin is what someone is willing to pay for it!
