As Gil-gilad suggested, perhaps in honor of ole Julius' birthday, we could post some of our favorite JC coins. Since Gil says he doesn't have any, I will post one for each of us. The first is the only portrait coin of his that I own:

Julius-Caesar's-Birthday

The second is a coin minted at Carthage and perhaps the best preserved and best toned in my collection of JC coins:

OK Eng, then I'll post another in your name. This may be one of the more famous of the JC coins, although mine is broken (I was able to get it at a reasonable cost because of it):

Great coins JW! I really like that Carthage issue!

Would you mind sharing what is reasonable for the JC Elephant? Every time I have seen one they do not seem so reasonable.

I don't mind at all. I have owned this coin for about three years. When I purchased it, it was part of a package deal with another broken coin, the August Denarius with the bull reverse. I paid $112 for the two coins after some negotiations with the seller. And I thought that was a terrible price for broken coins. Here is that Augustus coin:

your the best.......you know, I like broken coins, well centered, well struck, are nice, but I think a broken Roman has a different appeal...Thanks...

Nope, I don't have any JC coins. Not sure I will own one in the foreseeable future either since they are so expensive.

I have a coin or two with a chip as well as a few that are ragged flans. I still like those coins. My guess is that they are not as desirable, hence the lower price.

Thanks JW. I get to honor JC even though I don't have a coin. :)

Don't have a JC coin, but here is a story relating to Shakespeare's 'Julius Caesar':

I was in junior high school. The local picture theatre was showing a film of the play. The local girls' and boys' high schools decided to attend, during school hours.

The theatre had upper and lower levels, the boys upstairs, the girls downstairs, and every seat was occupied. We were all well behaved and silent.

Come Act 5, Scene 1: Cassius before the battle, announces that it was his birthday. The boys erupted in perfect unison:
"Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you!", immediately after which was hilarious and very noisy pandemonium.

Julius-Caesar's-Birthday

I do not own a Julius Caesar solo portrait but I do have this seriously rare face to face with Octavian. The reverse legend states that the coin was the work of Marcus Agrippa making this even more special. Of course the thing is fourree and in extremely poor shape but it is all I have to offer and the Caesar face is its strongest part.

Mine was $82 in 1989. The one above was $40848 in 2009. OK, I admit their's is a bit nicer.
