The following is a press release from the ANANew software should stabilize website, improve user experienceThe American Numismatic Association's primary website will be re-launched Monday night, July 16, at approximately 10 p.m. Mountain Daylight Time. Website users may experience some problems or find that the site is not operating normally for about 60 minutes while the transition from the old site to the new site is completed.
For the past several weeks, users of
http://www.Money.org have experienced a number of problems when trying to access content in the Members-Only area. The work that will be completed Monday night is designed to fix those issues and make for a better overall user experience for
ANA members.
The
ANA has partnered with a Colorado Springs-based technology company to develop a back-end software package that will power the website. The goal of this upgrade was to stabilize the current
http://www.Money.org so that members would no longer have problems accessing the content in the Members-Only section, such as the ability to pay dues or read The Numismatist online.
Besides stabilization, members will notice other improvements to site, including:
1. The main navigation once again includes a drop-down menu
2. The typography has been improved for better readability
3. The restoration of the association's online archive of past news releases and financial reports -- documents important to the association's recent history.
The
ANA's other websites, WorldsFairofMoney.com - NationalMoneyShow.com - ANAPreshow.com were upgraded to the new software earlier this week.
"Getting Money.org stabilized so that our members can successfully log in, access the Members-Only area and have everything work the way it's supposed to work is just step one,"
ANA Executive Director Jeff Shevlin said. "The next step is to begin soliciting ideas from the membership, from the Technology Advisory Committee and from other outside sources to begin building a brand-new website that will offer all the functionality and social aspects that members have come to expect in today's day and age."
Work on the development of a new website will begin immediately and should take around a year to complete, Shevlin said.
