Meerchant1,
I'm pretty sure I've seen this very die pairing recently, in white metal, and unbuckled and unpierced.

The dealer wanted £5 for it, and the reverse is a common type.
I thought £5 was too expensive and the dealer agreed, but said that he had overbid for a lot of them and was trying to break even.

If I see it again, I'll ask for a photo so that you can compare.

thanks Pertinax,
they more than likely produced 1000's of these to give away to school and such like.
most of the ones I have seen have either a location or a company name as such on them .
thanks again

This medallion has the arms of the City of London.
You're right that most of them have a location or a company name, but an alternative was a burgh or town arms.

In Manchester, my grandfather told me, that every schoolchild got one as a gift.
