Any thought on Value, one has 2 small light folds, the other pure UNC. They are in sequence, any thought on value?

With the newer stuff, it needs to be perfect. The one with 2 folds is only worth $10. The only thing going for it, is its in sequence with the other one.

Hmmm, coin shop offered me $400 for them and I turned him down due to not knowing. I just came back from chapters with a paper money book(Canadian Government Paper Money by the Charlton Group) and the prefixes with these signatures say $350 in AU and $600 in UNC? Am I missing something?

it's a changeover Note. You probably can sell the one with 2 light fold. And keep the Best one for youself

Probably you should send it to the Grading Company for more collector value.

OK, I really feel silly now. I made an assumption that these were common prefixes. After checking my own book, I do see that these are quite valuable. According to your descriptions. the one with two folds would be $200-$300, depending how severe the folds were, and if in fact there no other tiny flicks or folds. The UNC one could be worth $600-$700, again assuming it is perfect. With the newer notes and uncirculated at that, they would have to be carefully scrutinized to give a final assessment. Sending them in for grading would not be a bad idea. OR, if you got them for cheap, go back to the dealer and take your $400 and run.

Does the fact that they are sequential ad to the value? Should I break them up?

I would keep them together. There are collectors out there that like to collect sequential stuff. this just adds to the niceness of the pair. I know for the older stuff, sequential adds value, but not so much for the newer stuff. My vote is to keep them together.

Nice bills Canadian_Paper, lately I've been pondering about diversifying my collecting interests to paper money, however, I know nothing (absolutely nothing) about paper money. Advice needed on how and where should I start?

Hi Glenzy, After reading your posts for the last few years I have a sense on the kind of stuff you like. Do some research into the 1935 series. Its an expensive and hard series to collect, but I think its worth it. Just my 2 cents worth.

Thanks for all your responses guys. I emailed Colonial Acres and a chap emailed back offering $600. I'm not too sure what kind of profit margins they have over there but I'm sure they are have decent. As for how I got the notes, I'm a new collector and I responded to an ad on my local classified site. The seller had $135 face made up of notes from 1937 to the $10s from 1989. He was only asking $200, I offered him $150 and voila! Grabbed a reference guide from Chapters and the rest is history. I will post a pic soon of the 1937 $20 in AU/UNC condition.

Thanks
Ken

One more question if I decide to sell. Because these are considered to be the rarest $10 bill from the bird series, should I command close to trends in selling?
