I picked this IKE up last night on a "bid and forget it" auction, and I was surprised that I won it for about $10.00 (+/- some change). I was looking at it again and compared it to one of my Blue Ikes, and it does not look like silver, more like a clad. The number is good according to PCGS with a stated value of $32, and Numismedia value of $25. I see that all 1971-S Ikes were supposed to be Silver and I guess that it is possible, but not probable, that it could be a wrong metal Ike. It just does not have the "white" look of silver, to me anyway.

There is an older thread (probably one of many) that states that ALL 1971-S Ikes are silver; https://goccf.com/t/89335

What does CCF think about this one? Silver? Clad? Fake slab? Bad lighting? I will post my images of it when it arrives.

Thanking you in advance!

Try the tissue test. It does look toned.

Unless you can figure out the slab is fake personally Id trust PCGS. But I've seen a lot of silver commems get that kind of look so nothing is really that suspicious to me personally just from the color

The tissue test is on list of "things to do" with this coin when it arrives, thanks!

You're probably good, it's just bad lighting

I already have a MS67 Ike for my 7070, I plan on giving it to my friend who has given me so much in the past to help him build up his 7070.

Scanners can do many funky things to the appearance of a coin, nice for showing details but terrible for color and luster.

Thanks Bio, it did not occur to me that this may be a "scanned" image. I tried scanning some coins before and it did not turn out good at all.

All 1971-S Eisenhower dollars are supposed to be 40% silver (with the visible outer layers actually 80%).

The photo looks silver to me, but that is not saying much.
