I dont really have the time, nor the money, to buy a detector and use it, but I am going on holiday in the Dorset area and staying within walking distance of Dorchester, so I would love to have a go at metal detecting there.

So, can a detector of good quality be hired? If so, where?

I see rental detectors in my local online want ads. I think it's a bounty hunter for $40 a week. Not really a quality detector though.

You might have more luck placing your own ad asking to rent one, somebody might have a spare or rent you a decent one. Be prepared to leave a deposit though.

It doesn't take to much time to place and respond to an online ad, you might have some luck.

Have fun.
