I received this email from my father in law. "old SILVER CERTIFICATE $1 bills and also $2 bills? I have a bunch of these in a box and would like to know if the SILVER CERTIFICATES were or are worth anything and also if the early $2 bills are more rare than the ones after the bicentennial are. We have pre bicentennial and post as well."

I know nothing about these as I focus more on coins. Any help is appreciated on where I can look to find more info. Thanks!

The late 1935 series and 1957 series $1 SCs tend to be quite common and have little value in circulated condition. The later Red Seal $2s are fairly inexpensive too. Circ $2s from 1976-present are exceedingly common and would only be worth face value unless you happen to have a low print star note. Just like with coins, the series date is critical to value. Other factors affecting value would be pinholes(usually from staples), writing/ink stamps, and heavy folds.
