I think your penny is a 1976 as per my SPM software analysis...? Just my opinion though.

darn Joe.  This coin needs a doctor.  Where's Don?...lol I kinda looks like a lamination peal by the date,but that rim looks shifted.  How does the back look? The rest do look PMD.?

It looks like all PMD to me but you should always show both sides of the coin to make it easier to determine the cause.

Hi joeturbo26Here is a side by side comparison of what I think the coin year is...Excuse my drawing ability, but it does look like a flattened out " 7" and " 6" to me.

Wert thats interesting! I wish I knew how to install that imaging software on my mac. Thank you! in hand I feel like the last digit gives hint to a 9. Hold on a second I just took some photos of obv/rev posting now.

The reverse photo shows the damage opposite the date confirming PMD.

Yes it does, I just have never seen damage that looked like this, so I was curious. What really made me wonder was how the damage on the reverse or obverse if you will don't seem to correlate with its opposing side, if that makes sense. My thought was, how can such a clean "cutout" on the obverse cause that bumpy distortion on the reverse and/or visa versa.
