Agent Mulder, try sticking the coins:

--under your mattress, on top of your box spring
--in an empty box in your pantry that once held food (e.g. an empty Ritz crackers box)
--in a random book on a bookshelf
--inside a CD case
--in your underwear drawer
--in your freezer, in a DRY plastic bag
--in your bathroom, between layers of towels (or if you have a linen closet, same concept)

. . . . why no, I've never hidden $5 bills from myself for when I might need them later, why do you ask?

Agent Mulder, think of cleaning coins the way you would think of owning a Meet the Beatles vinyl record (bear with me, this metaphor totally makes sense):
That was a good analogy, ninamason. If I had not bought it, I would now.

yeah, I asked the realtor if someone would be with the people looking at the house and what would happen if anything got stolen because I have a lot of camera equipment and electronics plus my coins, he told me that no one can look at the house without a realtor with them so I dont have to worry about anything getting stolen, but I'm sure that wouldnt stop would be thieves

and @ninamason...good explanation

Use common sense. I'm sure you've had to had things from time to time before.

Glad it worked for you, Jbuck I've found that analogy to be helpful when trying to explain to my mom why she MUST NOT touch my Peace dollar on the faces, please (she's a big record fan), so figured I'd try it here, also.
