I would not pay that much money for a tiny gold coin.
Collect for yourself is OK. For investment? I will choose gold bar. At least you get exactly what you paid for. RCM gold coins are so much over spot price.

I'm personally staying away from gold/platinum NCLT.

gold NCLT are overpriced to the extreme, as already mentioned. I have not purchased any gold nclt from RCM because of that reason. If your looking for gold as investment, then buy bullion or ETFs

I've made a roughly 8.5% return on gold NCLT during the past 2 years, selling 2000-2011 coins. And I have nothing on hand I can't at the very least break even on. True that many of RCM's gold NCLT trend towards the price of metals, but definitely not all. This makes collecting fun I suppose. But of a gamble that you can improve your odds at with some homework. Advice to still only buy what you're willing to hold till you're in the ground is still the golden rule though.

The coin is really small. I saw it in person at the post office and it is smaller than a quarter.

Paying $1000 for such a small coin does not seem worth it.

the coin is about 10 grams or about 540.00 worth of gold, has low mintage of 888, priced at 1000.00

But everyone is ignoring the fact that last year's coin is going for more than double the issue price. Same mintage, and pandas are a popular topic.

The years before the last ain't doing too hot though, with not much more minted. I'm betting on this little panda doing well, but still think you've gotta be careful.
