I found this 1989 lincoln that really looks like it has the inials (FG)of an 1988.I compared this one to several 1989"s but none look like this one.I know there is a 1988 with the reverse of a 1989.Could it be the other way around as well?Or could it be a fake? Thanks for any info.

Could also be a somewhat clogged die making the FG look weak.

Non verified..but there is always hope . The big giveaway on yours is the location, which is correct for RDV-006.

I think I read in strike it rich with pocket change, that there is both 88 with 89, and 89 with 88, but the latter of the two is thought to not truly exist and be considered a RDV.

Ok...I checkt the placement of "FG" on my coin....Now I know what you was talking about...( I THINK).Its at the same place as on any 1989 penny. On an 1988 "FG" is placed a bit closer to the foot of the building.....Am I right?.......hey before to long I be an expert in all this ...lol..:)

Hallo Monika! Yes RDV is reverse design variety. Personally, I've found these 88/89 to be one of the hardest to spot! Google "89 reverse of 88" you'll see that it is posted and spoken about all over this and every other board! Lol. Also check out varietyvista.com that's in my opinion the best site to learn about the reverse designs!
