I couldn't readily find the answer to this question, so sorry if it is out there in an obvious place.

Found a couple nice 2009 Canadian nickels: were they low mintage like the US nickels from 2009?

Low mintage, relative to the amount of coins the US mints produce! (But not low mintage in Canadian coinage).
