Hello,

I have posted two of the same bills:

1) the serial # 0655917 has the initial letter of the left signature beginning 1/8" to the left of the 'P' of the word 'Promises' directly below it.

2) the serial # 0797938 has the initial letter of the left signature beginning directly above the 'P' of the word 'Promises' also directly below it.

My initial concern has to do with the authenticity of both of these bills being that the signatures' locations are inconsistent with one another.

Secondly, the forth digit of red serial numbers do not appear to be almost touching the tops of the orange-colored sphere unlike the same PMG-graded bill as illustrated in this completed listing from ebay in Canada:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/1-YUAN-1926...em3f191b5f6d

Were these type of positioning variances considered to be acceptable from the Chinese presses back in 1926 or have I uncovered a couple of counterfeit bills?

I would like an answer from CCF before I shell out the $ to PMG to get these graded etc.

Thanks,
mdpmedia

A quick check of a couple of Chinese websites (1, 2) shows that there is no uniformity in the placement of the signatures and serial numbers.

This lack of consistency would not appear to be a factor in determining authenticity.

If you are interested, I discuss the vignette on this note at my website.

Hello,

Thanks much for these websites and does anyone also have any idea on what these two bills would grade out at and whether or not it would be worth it to have one or both professionally graded and certified by PMG.

I have never had any currency whatsoever professionally graded and certified by PMG and have no idea of what is involved cost-wise.

Having a rough idea on the approximate grade and retail value of each bill would be a tremendous aid in deciding to move forward with PMG...
