Well here we are guys.....my 500th post on this forum chatting with you fine folks. Been great thus far and interesting to read everyone's thoughts and opinions. As well to 500th post, I picked up my 52nd ounce of silver to break that barrier as well. Eyes are on more gold now and that 100oz milestone. Cheers all and happy stacking!

It takes 57 ounces of silver to equal the value of 1 ounce of gold. You're better off to buy 1/32 or 1/64 ounce of gold each time than an ounce of silver. Over the years silver has never gone up to reflect the amount mined in comparison to the price of gold mined. There has been only nine times more silver than gold mined from the earth in history, yet silver is worth 57 times less? Doesn't add up, but that's the market. Maybe someday the market for silver will turn and the silver you have saved will reflect the ratios, but it's not in the foreseeable future. On the other hand it's predicted by many stock experts that gold will be 50 percent higher in price next year at this time... Oh, Congrats on 500 posts!!

Quote: but it's not in the foreseeable future I admire people with crystal ball ... especially those who ten years ago would say that silver will never be $10 in foreseeable future :) Good luck to you. I am trying to get off the silver hunting, but I keep adding (good values for a buck jump up all the time), while my gold accumulation project is lagging due to my inability to find good source for gold at spot or near.

Quote: I admire people with crystal ball ... Investing in gold and silver is just like investing in any stock if you are waiting for it to appreciate on the market. Intuition and reading between the lines is like having a crystal ball, if you are good at investing in stocks. Just like my Ford stock, I knew when I bought it 4 years ago (at 1 dollar per share) that since they weren't getting bailed out from the government, if anything turned worse for the company they would take a bail out and my stock wouldn't lose. 2 years later I sold half for 8 dollars per share. A year after that sold the half of the remaining half at 18 dollars per share. I'm now left with a quarter of my original stock riding at 9 dollars per share. Even the quarter of stocks left riding is worth more that twice my original investment. So no, not a crystal ball, just reading between the lines! Same with gold and silver, if you're not buying it for the beauty, understand the investment.

Good job, Sam! It's quite amazing just how quickly silver adds up if you keep working at it. As far as timing the market, I do believe silver outperformed gold during the 2011 run up, didn't it? No one can predict the PM market, IMO. My prediction is gold won't top $2100 by this time next year but I guess we'll see.

I'm not sure where gold will be....depends on how this whole mess plays out but I do think come September were gonna get a little run up....based on historical seasonal info only. As for silver, I feel it did outperform gold during last years run up and also got hammered more than gold. At this point I see more upside potential for silver in the long term. I use my silver as savings for getting my gold as many of you know. Time to get my next 1/2oz of gold. I would like to either get one .5oz or 2x.25oz to bring my gold count to 1oz total and then focus on that 100oz silver milestone. I'm just focus on trying to get my core silver and gold together and after that I may play the gsr game maybe.
