Why do the Pamp Silver bars have such high premiums? Like extremely high?
I was going to purchase a 20 gram Pamp bar just to have one, but it was $31!
And 1 ozt bars for $42+
Are those normal prices? Or am I just looking in the wrong places?

PAMP Suisse silver is a bit more "refined" than other bullion offerings. All are serialized and comes sealed in an assayed card. Any extras like this will cost more. You're also paying for the bars to be shipped from Switzerland or where ever you are purchasing them from. I'm not 100% on the tax situation in Europe but not every country have tax exemption for bullion PMs like the States and Canada.

I suppose I do understand with the assay card and serial #. Just seems a little crazy to me. I got a 2.5gram Gold Pamp bar coming so, I wont bother with a silver one I guess

I bought a 100 gr. Pamp Suisse 2012 Dragon from them for $122 around the first of the year when spot silver was about where it is now. Deals are there on ebay if you have a little luck on your side, but yeah, Pamp's reputation seems to bump up the price in most cases. The good news is, anything you buy from them will hold its value during silver dips a little better than most bullion.

I have a few 1 oz of the silver dragon bars. Beautiful, but definitely not for stacking purposes.
Their gold bars seem to carry a more reasonable premium compared to other gold products.

I also have noticed that the PAMP products tend to be higher priced than other bars of the same weight and metal type. One exception to that seems to be at GoldMart, where PAMP bars are the same price as the Credit Suisse bars. GoldMart's premiums on these PAMP bars is quite low these days.

Good to note Ed. One may be able to buy them at mart an turn an flip for a little, depending on fees an such....
The one oz. seems to bring 45 to 50 on running auctions and 52 to 55 or so on buy it now's even with silver in high 20's....

Thanks, Hawk, but I wasn't even thinking along those lines. I would like to buy some gold and have been window shopping on-line. GoldMart has some really nice low premiums on a number of their products right now... spot + $19 for 1-oz. Krugs, spot + $11 for PAMP 100 gram poured gold bars, and PAMP 1-oz. Lady Fortuna gold bars for spot plus $15. Pretty nice looking items, IMHO. Anyone care to comment on gold coins vs. gold bars? The bars seem to have lower premiums and are not considered "money" from the IRS point of view. If I wanted to take some gold to Canada to sell, for example, I would be limited to less than $10,000 worth of AGEs but would have no limit on taking any amount of gold bars out of the US. Probably never need to do that unless a terrible financial disaster occurs but it might be good to be able to do that then, if necessary. Thoughts?
