Hmmm => yah, I have no idea why it is that low? (I checked and there were half a dozen coins that were close to 11 grams, but I admit that the coin that I posted was the lightest of them all) ... gee, now I'm glad that I didn't buy it ...
SIDE-NOTE => I am sending "24" of my coins to David Sear for authenticity ... this is merely to avoid this kind of emotional trauma, if and when my inheritor decides to sell my coins (I've whittled it down to my high-risk coins and my high-valued coins ... only those will be sent) ...
... man, the whole "is it genuine?" thingy really is the down-side of the ancients world, yes?
For the record => I'm still hopin' that the coin that I posted would pass the test ...

Well if you can find other coins that are about 11g and they sorta look like yours then you might be alright, I honestly dont know. Maybe its light because war was being fought or there as a coin shortage who knows, I don't know enough, MASIS on the other hand seems to know a great deal about the Parthians. If you see others that are 11g and change then 10.7g arnt bad.

Man, I'm gonna log-off for the night ... all I've done tonight is scramble-around and waste 3 hours researching a coin that I'm not even gonna buy!! In continuation of the pursuit for knowledge.....
In regards to the matching references of Steve's posted coin, I noticed that the source describe the examples as Billon "BI", Billon Tetradrachm. With this being a blend of bronze and silver, can anyone comment on denomination. Do they share the same denomination as lets say my 14g fine silver issue? (I am assuming, based on mass and observed volume) I can understand that my coin is dated approx 70 years later. (at least in regards to source 3) Would their be a reason for the increased silver content and significant increase in intrinsic of the coin?
I welcome educated guesses, raw facts, conjecture and the not so educated guess. Was the Parthian coinage brought "up" to a new standard in order to do business with contemporaries. Is the coin a different denomination? Is the use of the coin different, sacrificial vs common usage vs some kind payment for a treaty and such? I suppose with the historical facts that surround the period at least some answers to these questions can be inferred.
