Please Help Me Idenfiying These Coins

They look pretty old but I have no idea what they are because of the characters used on them ( or the lack of them). Thank you guys. Have a good day Report this Post to the Staff

Sap Moderator Australia 16837 Posts	Posted 08/14/2012 8:05 pm The top one is Byzantine, a Class D "anonymous follis" attributed to the reign of emperor Constantine IX (AD 1042-1055). There's a nicer looking example on this Wildwinds page, scroll down to the one numbered SB 1836. The second one is I think also Byzantine, a later type of anonymous follis; on the link I gave earlier, scroll right down to near the bottom, the one numbered SB 1900, Class J, dating from the reign of Alexius I (AD 1081-1118). Don't say "infinitely" when you mean "very"; otherwise, you'll have no word left when you want to talk about something really infinite. - C. S. Lewis Report this Post to the Staff
