I was wonder if it is necessary to have purchase the binders for these albums. As fas as I can tell all these binders is to increase both storage space and cost. Is there a practical reason why a collector would need them. Personally I don't see why they are needed or wanted.

Its for people who dont want to do everything in the assembled binders. If you just buy the binder you can fill it with blank pages or whatever pages you want as opposed to having empty holes if you dont want to do part of the album I'm guessing.
I am assuming by the binder you mean the outer shell and not something else

I'm actually referring to the sleeve that Dansco sells that you would put the album in.

If it's the sleeve that the entire Album goes into, just one more thing to take up space. Serves little to no purpose. Some other manufacturers make those too. I'm always amazed at how many collectors say they like the appearances of some Albums, then hide them away due to thefts.

Actually, I find the slipcases very useful. When you have a shelf full of the Dansco albums, because they are frequently narrower on the inside of the shelf than at the spine, if you try to put 8 or ten on a shelf they don't sit right. The slipcases keep them lined up better. If you only have two or three it probably doesn't matter.

Yes, I like the slipcases for the same reason jgfindring stated. They also add another layer of protection from the outside elements that could tone or haze the coins.

The correct size slipcase doesn't increase the space that the album takes up. I keeps the album from toppling because of it's wedge shape. If the binder falls on its side and sits there for a prolonged period of time it will get warped.
That being said, I don't have any because I'd rather spend the money on other coin stuff. But if I found them cheap I'd buy em up.

Well technically they add two cardboard thicknesses. I think they look nice, but I wish they made them with the name of the album stamped on them instead of the logo.

I personally like the slipcase for the above reasons, keeps them from falling over.

I agree about the usage of those but still, I'm surprized at how many state they leave coin items or any kind out in the open. Must live in some remote, honest, places where there is no crime. In most large cities, advertising a coin collection on a bookcase is like placing an add in the newspapers saying you have cash all over your place and then giving the address.
