Got this one a little while ago and just recently took my own photos of it. This is my fifth denarius and a sort-of upgrade to my only other Trajan (I say "sort-of" because the other one is not a denarius but an AE As in really bad shape), which helped prompt my search for a new Trajan, and I ended up picking this one up.

Trajan AR denarius, 19 mm, 3.07 g

Obv: IMP TRAIANO AVG GER DAC PM TR P, laureate head right
Rev: COS V P P SPQR OPTIMO PRINC, Roma seated left and holding Victory and spear, Rome mint, RIC 116

cool colour ... or is the hue of iridescent pinky/purple just an illusion?

Oh, but a very nice coin, regardless of the colour (that's how you spell colour in Canada)

I like all coins of Trajan.
They were struck at the time when the Empire was at it's zenith.

That means that a lot of coins were struck, and the denarii are of good silver, and the bronze coins of large size.
That also means that it is fairly easy to obtain good quality coins of this Emperor for reasonable prices.

An illusion; in hand it is shiny silver (I have not idea where the usb cable for my camera is, so no way to transfer them to my comp. As a result I had to use my phone camera - which probably explains the difference in quality as compared to my previous photos).
