What country and what year is this from? I think it's beautiful, even with the damage.

These notes were issued 1942-1944 and are actually dated; the year is the vertical strip of small characters along the right edge of the front (top picture). Both Fishnwidow's and scoutjim's notes are dated Year 18 of emperor Hirohito (1943 AD).

Thanks again.

I am almost out things, I need help with. Once I figure out everything I have, then I can start to learn what I need to make it better. I have started a coin and currency journal and all the info I am given goes into that and when my son is old enough, it will all be passed on to him. It will be fun to look back at the values of things now, to what they might be in 20 or 30 years. ( Especially my 1883 Rep. of Mexicana coin.

scoutjim99 is right; they are collectable but not valuable. I own the ones from years 1938, 1943 and 1944, and I've paid something around 2-3 USD for each of them. I think the only one that carries some premium over the others, is the one dated 'Showa 17' or 1942...but even that one is being sold for 10-15 USD all the time.
