The obverse and reverse are sharp, though has several rim dings. What would you grade this coin? I am new to the hobby and cannot even begin trying to give a coin a grade. I am thinking of sending it to PCGS for grading, think it will get a details and or graffiti grade? All help is welcome and opinions respected. Thanks in advance..

I don't see any red flags that would lead me to believe its not real. The rims/denticles, design elements, date, and mintmark all appear correct. The unfortunate thing is there is some rim damage on the reverse that would land it in a details holder. There doesn't look like there is much luster but with the level of remaining detail, I think it could get AU details. Definitely worth sending it in to be graded to confirm authenticity as this coin rare and valuable in any grade, with problems or not. Just about a year ago, Heritage sold a PCGS graded cleaned example with approximately AU details for $8625. Amazing coin!

Looks AU for lack of wear. Definitely need this one certified. Those hits on the rim look somewhat intentional in their placement to me. No damage on the other surfaces.

Thank you all for your replies. I am not looking to sell, just for insurance purposes, what would this be valued at? Given that it gets AU details (damaged - due to rims)? Is there any trick to know how damage affects a coin value according to its book value?
