Howdy, this set was in my great-grandad's stuff. I've never paid any attention to it as I collect US coins.

What varieties should I look for in this set? All coins are in great Mint State shape. I see what might be signs of double die on the Penny and Farthing.

Any info will be greatly appreciated, I know nothing about these coins.

Half Crown - 1967
Crown - 1965
Florin - 1967
English Shilling - 1966
Scottish Shilling - 1964 (Both of these coins look the same)
Halfpenny - 1966
Threepence - 1967
Farthing - 1951
Sixpence - 1967
Penny - 1967

Thanks!

Hi Drsandman2

Find what I can find the sets are sort of generic meaning they are not standard some of the ones that I have seen have different date ranges for the different denominations of coins 18.00 to 30.00 bucks is the range that they sell for.
The two shilling coins have a different coat of arms.

Am not aware of any special varieties for the coins that you have but hey maybe you found something.

Its probably worth more kept together - these coins sell for pitance seperately. Pity about the crack.

You'll be happy to know, the crown is still legal tender, now it is a 25p coin in Enngland, nobody seems to know about them.

Thanks for the info! I think that case did its job, ha! I can probably find a replacement case for super cheap.

It is a cool set, and I'm surprised how well kept the coins are. Undoubtedly, my great-grandfather bought this at the end of his collecting career, when the set was issued. I did find the previous post on CC about this set, but was curious about varieties... if people even collect British varieties?

There are British variety collectors, though perhaps not to the same extent as you find in America. Most of the interesting varieties, however, occurred prior to the reign of Queen Elizabeth II. I'm not aware of any significant varieties for the dates indicated.
