52Raymo, Thanks but you do not understand how much I hate challenges related to color. I asked my sister for help. Her answer:
"Don't even try to find the green. It is faint in some portions of the head outline." My response: I do see some around the chin and thinning as it proceeds down the neck. What I perceive is something I would call blue green. I can see the blue portion. The point is Verdigris and how to remove it from a coin. As this is a rare and costly cent the advice has been running "Remove the verdigris but have a pro do it. " Was Verdigris ever a problem at New Haven Copper?
You see, sister and dad were "copper" people. Brass if you must.
Being "Color blind" is only a problem when people ask me "what color do you see?" You all would do well to have a trusted family member assist you with your coin collecting efforts. I am SO lucky to have my sister Rose!

With all due respect ... why are you 52Raymo trying to hijack the OP thread with your own coin? This is a free forum ... no cost at all to start a new thread ... I would appreciate you being kind enough to allow the OP coin to be the focus of this thread ... in that regard I politely suggest that you start our own thread if you want opinions on your own coin. Perhaps I missed how your photo/coin is related to addressing the OP question? Back to the OP ... Lovely key date IHC ... and I agree with nearly everyone above that this should not be the first coin that you attempt conservation efforts. David Edited for spllnenging

i think he might have been offering a crappy IHC to experiment on with verdicare, before tackling a high-grade key date.

John and Matthew can't see green, they were talking about being color blind. I was kidding with them by offering them a VERY GREEN cent. Haha, get it ? They wouldn't notice the green because they can't see it. I wasnt trying to hijack their thread.
I have noticed humor and coin collecting don't seem to mix.

My apologies 52Raymo .... I get the connection now. A problem with the internet is all you get is the written word ... I'm sure in a live conversation with tone of voice it would have been obvious you were simply joking around. On with the OP thread .... David

Oh NO, Ray! Coins and humor Do mix! But having been asked for about 55 years now: "What color do you see?" gets to be a bit tired. I gave up on stamps years ago. All of the shades of color affecting value was too much for me. Coins, outside of the verdigris problem ( I do not collect coppers ) are only slightly disappointing when "rainbow" toning is involved. I simply use my own criteria and do well. And the offer of a green cent, well, I see no harm. Lighten up, kids! When you get on in years you will develop a sense of humor. Compared to the "Help me get rich quick." themes, this is a no harm, no foul post.
Oh, and for the record, the OP should do nothing and keep gathering opinions. Too nice of a scarce date to monkey with. At least, not without professional help. If then!

As someone who has dealt with corrosion control issues for a very long time I would only mention that once corrosion gets a foothold on your coin...IT WILL SPREAD...unless treated. By all means don't use this coin as your guinea pig. But, in my opinion, just putting it back in a 2x2 and putting it into storage without conserving it is just asking for trouble. Sure there are coins I have had for 50 years that are just as 'red' as they day I put them away. But I have also had coins turn amazingly fast. Your coin will, if left untreated, turn as green as Rays IHC. The only variable is time.

Don't touch this coin, and don't make the key date of a series your first attempt to use a conservation product.
