SLDWB ULOPH! (Howdy Folks)

Welcome to the latest installment of code breaking. I have prepared a nifty little puzzler for you all. To help motivate, I am including as a prize, what I believe to be the 2nd oldest coin in my collection. I think that this large cent is an 1803 with the large fraction, though in the condition, I can't really be certain, and my obverse photo didn't turn out very good.

Anyways, here is the coin

All you need to do is tell me what the following means, and a short explanation as to how you figured it out.

I will start with 3 hints.

1. The phrase is not a famous quote
2. It is in English
3. I did not differentiate between capital and lowercase.

PARTPPGKPSITGSPSGRETBAVT
PPUTBPNTPEET
BPPEWTPPGKPSPGTH
PCPTGSPSGKTT
BAGSTF
PPTRBPPETW
PCGSDTGPGRTTBAGT

Have fun and I will provide periodic hints if no one solves it quickly (which one of you might).

No letter specifically indicates a space, or any other punctuation.

Hey, my brother Nod!!

Sweet squeeze into the Code Breaking Contest line-up!!

Well obviously your initial hint (SLDWB ULOPH! (Howdy Folks)) was not a complete cue to the code!!

So we must now explore other options. The code can go up and down (versus left to right), right to left, or down to up. We'll look at that.

There also appear to be MANY Ps, Gs, Ks and Ts. All confusing but apparently are extra letters OR lead to the code...

and that leads us to...

But we are undaunted and will overcome!

Say A is Z, B is Y, C is X, D is W, ...

Then SLDWB ULOPH is Howdy folks.

However, if you try to apply this to the rest of the code, it gets ugly. Even applying it to the black letters only doesn't seem to go anywhere.

My post was just a quick statement that the code appears to be more than just a one-for-one substitution code (usually a pretty easy one to break.)

So Nod has placed some "hindrances" to a straight left to right, top to bottom, one for one substitution cipher.

However, his "Howdy Folks" may very well be a clue to the code. It may be a one for one substitution code but with extra letters, read from right to left, or maybe bottom to top.

As a matter of fact Nod has made codes in the past where the code circles around the ciphering. (Pretty clever, actually!!)

Now, one must just try several iterations of the code using and not using some letters and different alignment methods.

I'm going to try to work on it the afternoon if my schedule allows!!

Sort of, they are distantly related to the encoding method.

Can you give a hint about why the black letters do not conform to all being in groups of 3 like the other colours?
