I am going to send some of my 2006 $50.00 Buffalo Gold Proofs in to be graded. Planning to keep them as a hand me down.

I belong to ANA so I was going to send them to ANACS to be graded but naturally want the highest grade I can get what do you all think, should I send thee to ANACS or one of the other top grading services?

Brucec,
ANACS has nothing to do with the ANA. The ANA used to run the service but they sold it several years ago. ANA membership allows you to submit directly to NGC without the NGC membership cost.

I've used ANACS a fair amount in the past. They're one of the four top-tiered TPGs and like the other three, are the only TPGs who guarantee their grades with a money-back guarantee. Unfortunately, coins in PCGS slabs bring more than the other three on resale although I have done quite well by ANACS when selling. ANACS is also the only top TPG which will slab problem coins (qualification: NGC will slab "conserved" coins after they've been through its associated Numismatic Conservation Service [NCS] - this also with qualifications since neither will slab certain problem coins).

ANACS is the only grading company that I have used. I was always pleased with their service and knew within a point what the grade would be when I sent it. They are very consistent and I was very happy with them - so much so that we had James Taylor here on the forum twice for Q & A sessions when he was President.

I have too many hobbies

A common weakness among many (most?) of us. My other main hobby is ham radio in which I also have invested thousands so I'm active in possibly the two most expensive hobbies in the world (I exclude antique cars and sailing yachts from this list) . I also dabble in antique firearms. $$$$. I often ask myself why I couldn't have found less expensive hobbies like rock collecting or dumpster diving. I used to collect empty Bic pens, but I couldn't find any empty Bic pen clubs, tried to start an empty Bic pen Yahoo Group but after three months had recruited only one member (sort of a sympathy vote) so I gave up on the whole hobby and threw out my empty pen collection (couldn't GIVE it away on ebay ). I had about 100 empty pens, all neatly sorted by color.

I use anacs for all my coins and love their service, right price and correct grade.
Anacs is number three of the services.
