Commodus, Roman Alexandria, Egypt. Struck year 29 (LKtheta in exergue) 24 mm. 12.38 grams. The lighthouse of Alexandria on left with galley approaching from the right. Emmertt 2542. BMC 1439. Milne 2683. Sear 2.5927 Our host won the previous smackdown with a local purchase at a good price. This was also a local purchase at a good price. Normally in Montana your local coin store does not have many ancients! But I got lucky once! -- Warren

Vote! Gold- Warren (Augustus1) - The Great Light House... Holy Smokes. Silver- Dionysus - Colossus 'LIfetime' tetradrachm. Its everything I personally like about a coin. Bronze- JW - Cistophoric tet... I love this type. This could easily have placed Gold or Silver. The absolute hardest vote yet.

Gold-Augustus1-The lighthouse with galley Silver-JWharper-Satrap of Caria Bronze-echizento-tetradrachm
Such tough criteria on this smackdown, and really I feel Augustus entered the coin which was most relevant...great design on that coin I love it.

A-noob => great job hosting the 15th SMACKDOWN (amazing how time flies, eh?) ... I considered your two coins when I was voting, but decided that the "host's coins" are off limits ... therefore, my podium choices are as follows: Gold => Bing's Coin #1 (Mark Anthony Tet)Silver => Batman's Coin #1 (Crouching Lion)Bronze => augustus1's Coin #1 (Lighthouse)NOTE => there were also a few other very worthy candidates worth mentioning: echizento's two Alexandrian beauties, BenByfield's Bee & Stag coin, Doucet's last minute entry, chrsmat71's Arcadius and his Alien interjections!! => huge points to everybody that contributed!! ... yah, there weren't quite as many coins submitted this time around, but hopefully that is primarily due to the fact that the topic was fairly restrictive?

David: That satrap belongs to Dionysos (but I'll take it if he doesn't want it).
