This is my 1976 ike I bought as my 'first official coin' for my collection. Chose it because its my birth year and it used to be a big thing in my family of me being a bicentennial baby. Not so much anymore but I like that stuff of my birth year is different sometimes then other stuff of the same ilk.

Now the seller on ebay I bought this from claims its a Type 1 Gem Deep Cameo. I bought it based on its look and a mid price range and general feel. Does that description make sense? The listing is here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1976-S-Eise...130727722808

Its obviosly not the exact same coin as its 26 sold. .

What would you grade it as? (Intersted in opinions).

As well as what does "Gem Deep Cameo" mean? I know Type 1 is there were two types and you can easily tell them apart by the U's lining up.

Also it was mentioned in another post I should take this out of the foam insert because they can melt to the coin over time. What case would you recommend for it? I picked these because they were 2x2 and at the time I wanted to be able to keep them in a 2x2 box. If thats just not whats done with 'valuable' coins (emotional or monetary) then I am curious on what you guys do.

And finally. Whats your opinion of my photos? I *think* thats about as good as I can get with my own equipment. My dad and I went through a process of creating a photo shooting box thats compact enough that blocks reflection and difuses light from multiple angles. Also lets me use the macro zoom on my camera to its fullest potential still fitting the entire 2x2 item in the view.

I am really only not happy with the Plurubus Unum not being as clear as I would like. I am gunna get my dad to take a look at that and see if he can improve it. Mom get's home from out of state in a few days and pop and kid time goes out the window then lol.

Thanks!!

my guess is that your piece would not get a cameo designation. I say this because the frosting does not appear to cover all of the devices and inscriptions. Now, of course, you have the coin in hand and I do not, so keep in mind to get that designation it needs to have frost and high contrast between the frosted devices and the fields.

As for grades. You need the coin in hand. The typical proof in original government packaging is PR68 to PR69.

As for your coin, it looks lovely and you should enjoy it. Good luck with your collecting!

We're doing better at the photographing. Hopefully these shots give a little better detail though I didnt realize the coloring was a little off until just now. (Been on my camera for a few days and my dad took the shots.)
