Muscat-&-Oman-Coin-Or-Medallion

Is this a coin or or a medallion, please ?

It's about rial size, weighs 26.92 g, and probably silver though possibly cupro-nickel.

It has a slightly proof-like finish.

It seems to be dated 1390 (about 1970), so about the time of the revolution & change to Oman.

It looks like a privately made version of a medal commemorating the 1970 Yemeni uprising. Design is quite similar to this official medal: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Medal-Musca...047675.l2557

Is it just the photo or is the silver color coming off on some parts?

Thanks,
It does have some similarities.

Is there somebody who reads Arabic who can tell us what the script on my piece says, please ?

Having examined the piece more closely, I see there is the remains of a patch on the rim at top - perhaps the medal bar was originally soldered on.

Some of the mountains do appear as coppery so perhaps it is silver plated bronze.

It's the Muscat & Oman Ascension Medal 1971.

See http://www.worthpoint.com/worthoped...71-162016443.

Unfortunately my free trial ended years ago, so I can't tell you what it's worth.
