it says year 1223 in arabic (I think this is year 1808)

What size/weight is it? Appears to be one of the smallest denominations, but good news is that it does look to be a genuine gold coin. Crude imitations of these are very common. Having a hole is also pretty common for these.

Its a fairly scarce Gold 2 Cedid of Adli Mahmud II. Weight should be around 4.4 grams I think? Its in nice condition, don't know of any un-pierced and looks to have some original lustre

The pattern of dots around the hole on both sides of the coin strongly suggests that the hole is part of the original design. Gorgeous coin, by the way.

The coin weighs 4.7grams and the diameter is 29mm.

Does anybody know the approx. value?

That is the accession year. The regnal year (shown above, inside the inner circle, same side) is 9, so I'd date the coin about 1816.
