I'd like grade opinions on my newest ebay purchase. I'm trying to learn how to grade better, and I have a grade in mind for this coin, but I'd rather not post it beforehand and bias anyone.

There is a fairly obvious scratch running from 11 to 5 o'clock on the king's hair that is the worst of the imperfections.

Thanks!

I'm not here to offer an opinion on a grade as I am still learning. I did want to say that they pictures are excellent. Well done.

Thanks very much middross! I am a relative neophyte in coin photography, but what improvements I have made are due in large part to the experts in the coin photography forum. Also, I just picked up Mark Goodman's Numismatic Photography which I'm hoping will help me take it to another level.

I initially put the grade on this dollar somewhere in MS-60 to MS-62. I guess it depends how much that one scratch takes away from the overall grade. Without it, I'd estimate the coin to be a pretty nice MS-63.

looks like we were all pretty close with our assessment. I would grade it as if the scratch was not there and than label it after...ex ( MS-62, Scratch)
