Hello, Can anyone help me date this 1/4 Pentagon from the Spanish/Netherlands.
I had purchased this as a 16th Century Piece, which would mean that it will date in the 1500's...
My Krause World Coins Catalogs (the sizes of large telephone books) dates back to 1600 and nothing earlier..
Thanks.

A coin very similar to your 1/4 patagon of the Spanish Netherlands (Albert & Isabella) can be found through the attached link. The one illustrated shows a date of 1616 but the area of your coin where the date would show has been worn away.

Thanks for the link.
I was able to view their coin prior to their website not working, and found my coin to be a different variety of the coin posted, and possibly a earlier version as their coin is more rounded then mine, some of the details are different and at the location of the date on their coin, mine has strong detail strike of what looks to be flowers or something of the sort, but has zero numbers... From what I could gather, I assume the Albert & Isabella started in 1598, but was unable to locate a 1/4 patagon of that date on a goggle search.
Many thanks for your personal time responding to my question.

I was just able to access the above website and had taken a picture of the area of the coin where the date is, followed by 2 photos of the same area on my coin...
If you check out the top left & right sides of the crown, you will notice on the 1616 dated piece the crown is under the "Z" & "A", where as my coin shows the crown extends almost half way above the "Z" & "A".
The bottom photo shows the area of where the date is on the 1616 photo, and clearly shows a different design with little wear at this location...
There are other minor detail changes in the design on both sides of the coin that is easy to see when this coin is compared side by side, and while I can't locate a exact match, I feel this may be a earlier undated piece of the 1616 dated piece...

Broken-Coin - Thanks for the up-date. Glad to know that the link was helpful in, at least, giving you the opportunity of making a close comparison of the 2 coins. The one and only Spanish Netherlands coin in my collection is also from Alberta and Isabella. A copper Denier, 4 Mites KM# 7 with a clear date of 1610. Quite an interesting history our two coins will have had!

This is indeed a 1/4 patagon of Albert and Isabella (Albertus et Elisabeth). This coin was issued in Tournai (DOM TOR.), so look at the Tournai issues, not the issues for Brabant or Flanders.
