Yet again, more problems! Usually they send me a credit card payments when I don't accept credit cards or want a different form of payment. But this time they paid but didn't sent the shipping charge!

Unfortunately, there are many people who don't read the auction. I think there are also buyers who leave out the s/h on purpose because there are sellers who won't quibble about it and just take the loss.

First, are you sure that the invoice was sent with the correct amount? If it was, I would email the buyer and explain that they neglected to pay for the s/h and ask them to do so.

Was this payment by m/o or Paypal? If it was by m/o, then this becomes a pain, but you should not have to lose money on a sale. If it was by Paypal, then it's much easier and the buyer can just send the additional.

Susan,

I e-mailed the buyer but he hasn't contacted me yet. I had sent him an e-mail with the total amount owed a few days ago. But he only sent the auction price and not the shipping. I didn't use the invoice from PayPal because it always included the credit card logos and they might think that I can take those. I just send an e-mail with all the information needed at the close of the auction. This was a PayPal payment. I might quit using PayPal. I've tried using BidPay, but it seems my buyers never know what that is and most of the time will ask after the fact if they can pay another way.

Bidpay is a nice alternative for overseas buyers. Most US buyers will not want to use it if Paypal is also offered because all of the fees are charged to the buyer.

How long has it been since you emailed him regarding the shipping? It may take a couple days since not every checks their email every day.

It's tough doing business online as communications between the two parties can be a lengthy time apart which is very frustrating. I like to resolve the situation quickly but there isn't anything I can do until the buyer responds. He sent the payment this mornnig and I e-mailed him this morning as well about the lack of the postage.

Here's how you get his attention. You refund the entire payment and include a note stating that it needs to be sent again for the correct amount.

If he sends the additional in a separate payment Paypal takes an extra 30 cents from you.

He will pay attention to the Paypal refund. Trust me.

I just got an e-mail back from this buyer and he seemed kinda cocky with one of the lines in his note.

--- most people send an invoice for items bought is this too big a deal for you?---

First off, I choose not to send PayPal invoices as they have credit card logo's associated with them. I instead send an e-mail to act as my invoice with all the payment instructions.

Another line from the e-mail:

--- it would still be nice for you to send me an invoice for the $3.85 this would make it easy for me.---

I sent him my invoice I make, not PayPals invoice. This eBayer "should" know how all this stuff works. This seller has 100+ feedbacks, 3 of which are negative from the last year.

If the initial email contained the total due, it would have included the s/h. It sounds like the buyer elected to disregard this portion of your email. What were his past negatives for?

The buyer blamed it on PayPal for not sending the right amount. I don't know what was going on there. Susan, do you have MSN Messenger so we can chat?
