That coin you purchased has super nice strike and details. The coin in my opinion is an AU with marks. Would probably net out as an EF 45. Worth the few bucks to get in a holder. Newfoundland like the piece you have is hard to find in any kind of condition eespecially the early (pre 1896) Victorian stuff!
Thanks for all views. I have seen this coin in ICCS slab on e-bay and although VF30 the coin looked very poor compared to my example....so I feel EF40 is a long way off.
I could reconcile myself to an AU50 with comments though I live in the UK and ICCS charged be $100 for shipping last time so I might get a few coins together and send a bunch.
