About 20 years ago I bought a lot of Canadian coins, from 1910 onward - including a 1932 50c, which had a mintage of 19,213 (can't remember how much I paid for it).

Had no idea the mintage was that low.

It sure is scarce in grades above VF-30 and underrated in higher grades. Has the same mintage as the coveted and mostly overrated 1948 silver dollar, but with less demand, which is why the trend value makes it a sleeper Key date!

Mintages in the US and Canada were incredibly low during the early '30s, due to the Depression. The US didn't even mint halves, dimes, or nickels for a few years. They even stopped making quarters for a year!

The 1932 50ยข is an undervalued item, IMO.
Scarce in high grades, even VG examples are tough.
I have several ICCS graded ones in VG to F and pick them up whenever the price is right.
A definite sleeper in any grade.

Don't worry...there are a lot more than 19,000 in existence (if you don't care about fakes)!

Indeed. Although I am unaware of any, I'm sure our friends in China are making them.
Needless to say, you should try to get certified examples.

Just owning one is a big deal to me - I bought one several years ago and would buy another and another and another if the price was right.
