Parkers New Member United Kingdom 2 Posts	Posted 09/24/2012 12:18 pm Hi all, Would be grateful for any info on a medal (50mm dia) appears to be nickel plated brass depicting two pigeons facing each other (one on a block) and the inscription 'Olympiad 1977'. It also has the 5 ring Olympic symbol. The back is completely flat and plain and I can see no engraver's initials anywhere. Thanks in advance if anyone has any clue. biokemist6 Bedrock of the Community United States 12437 Posts	Posted 09/24/2012 4:28 pm AFAIK, Pigeon Racing was never part of the Modern Olympics, not to mention that were no Olympics held in 1977(Montreal was 1976). It is also odd that "Olympiad" and the Five Rings are present as the IOC is usually very tight with the usage of their trademarked symbols. As an aside, my grandfather raced pigeons in the 1920s-1930s in Southern Illinois. Report this Post to the Staff
