I bought a few new coins this past weekend, this silver Sassanian was one of them.
I wish I could get a better picture of it but it's a little hard to photogragh. The details are better in hand and it is acually very bright and rainbow toned. The stike is either weak in the right side of the reverse or the die was worn, it's very smooth in that area. Some other sassanian coins seem to have similar strikes as well.

Which King it is I'm not sure yet. The 2x2 paper envelope it came in had 'Khoroses I' written on it (they might have meant Khusro I) but I don't think it is him. So far the images on the coin match up better with Kavad I, 1st reign 488-497 AD. http://www.grifterrec.com/coins/sas...kavI_1a.html

I can't read any letters yet or even know exactly where they are. These guys are a little complicated.
Any thoughts or comments would be appreciated

Hey Doucet,
Check out this guys page where he talks about the symbol Khusro I has above his head, it could be what yours is if the symbol is worn..

I'd tend to agree with Kavad but when I get these I usually end up posting them on the Forvm site and Tom Mallon usually comes through with a confirmation or correction of my guess. I'm only good for the easy ones.

chrsmat71: Thanks for that information.

I am now off to fully confirm the ID of a Sassanian silver coin that I also have.

Confirmed as Khrusu 1, Jay mint.

The style of the altar and the headress of the noblemen on the reverse, with "spheres" going over the border, is very like those of Kavad I.

Compare with these examples:
