Sunday paper had an add for "19th century Uncirculated Morgan" for $45 ( this includes shipping ). So, assuming it is a common date pre-1900 Morgan dollar, is this worth taking them up on? It specifically says you have no obligation to buy anything else.

I would try and get a better idea of what the "Uncirculated" Morgan's actually look like. What is "UNC" can be very subjective in the eyes of different sellers...

Those are really low grade, common date Morgans, which basically are worth melt, and they want $45 with shipping.

You can find better deals elsewhere, like reputable dealers.

Low grade? They specifically state uncirculated and show an image of a high condition coin. I know the image can be misleading but the term "uncirculated" is far less ambiguous.

A heavy bagmarked common date would be worth close to that. It's always a risk buying cheap unc raw and sight unseen. They may turn out to be sliders.

when they say low grade they mean low MS grade like anything from MS-60-62 and when it is a common date they are saying you can buy these for less than the amount they are asking. These coins will not have a grade on them, they will just say "Uncirculated" and that's it. This is how they do bulk submissions, the dealer will tell the grading company if they don't meet a certain grade (usually MS-64) they tell them to just put things like Uncirculated or Brilliant Uncirculated on the label and it saves the submitter money. These submitters may send it 2-5k Morgans at a time so you can see where every little bit saved is worth it. Usually Uncirculated is MS-60-62, Brilliant Uncirculated is MS-63-64 and Gem Uncirculated is MS-65 or above (Not 100% positive on the grade to terms but you get the idea). This is the grading standard dealers used to use a long time ago and the TPG's will still use it on bulk submissions like I mentioned above. It saves them money as they don't have to guarantee a specific grade and takes less time to grade the coin as most people can just glance at a coin and tell if its Uncirculated or not
