Aspro New Member South Africa 16 Posts	Posted 10/02/2012 11:34 am I have one of these stamped on an 1862 penny. The stamping was probably done in the 1880's or 90's as an advert for the firm to promote their liquor. This company was located in Paris but most of the coins stamped were British. Apparently this was a quite common method of advertising in victorian times. Report this Post to the Staff

What I think he has is a very worn coin that is overstamped "le Picotin Aperitif" for advertising purposes. The broken P is the "P" in Picotin. Report this Post to the Staff
