Bay State Coin Show is the East Coast's foremost coin show as well as the oldest commercial COIN show in the U.S.A.! Bay State was named one of the TOP 10 COIN SHOWS IN THE U.S.A. by "Coinage Magazine." Bay State has run every single year since the first show in 1964.

I took my son to this last year when it was held in downtown Boston and we both had a blast. Tons of dealers, lots of great stuff, and the folks couldn't have been nicer to my (then) six-year-old son. We've been looking forward to going back ever since.

Lots of changes from past years, however. It's now annual instead of semi-annual, it's out in the western exurbs instead of downtown, and it's only running for 2 days instead of 3 (no Sunday show). I don't know if these changes are due to a lack of interest among collectors or what, but it's a bit disappointing. Still, we're planning to go there on Saturday and hope to see some of you there.

The show is running Friday, November 9th and Saturday, November 10th at the following location:

Best Western Royal Plaza Hotel
181 Boston Post Road (West)
Marlborough, MA 01752

I work EVERY weekend from April though October, so no shows for over half a year!
I am really looking forward to attending (& spending)!

Last month the NH Coin Expo ran only two days instead of three.
Some reasons:
Dealers who have traveled a long distance want to pack up and leave for home. Another
is competition from local coin shows which run only on Sundays. Some dealers are committed to do a Sunday show.
Families with kids are likely to come on Saturday, especially if there is a kids seminar being held.
I am about a 2 1/2 drive away, coming from New Haven, CT. Would make for a L O N G day for me.
I'll keep it in mind.

Fun day, just 45 mins away, well worth the trip! Went shopping specifically for a 1837 no stars Half Dime and a roman coin from the London mint - but... Got lost right away after getting my pink wrist band at a vendor table with case after case of awesome raw copper. Upgraded my 7070 with an 1803 (sm date/sm fraction) cent and an 1851 Half Cent, two holes I had been happy with til I saw his offerings! After almost an hour at three different dealers selling ancients I left with no coin, but quite an education. Picked up a new 1853 Half Dime for no apparent reason, two Peace dollars and a Morgan for the kid's type sets, a '48 Franklin with a sharp and strong reverse strike, and a '21 Morgan with some crazy die cracks. All purchases were raw coins. Some observations: 1. Give the buyers a flippin' map with the dealer's names and maybe what they specialize in. 2. The venue was way too small for the numbers of dealers they crammed into it. 3. The Barber and Seated Lib clubs had a table stuck in a side room behind a soda machine, unfortunately. 4. Lots of slobbed coin and bullion vendors. 6. Six dollars admission? For what, exactly? 7. Heard more than one dealer complain of slow sales to the public, that most coins were just shuffling between dealers. 8. Because you wrote "net" on your 2x2 you won't take $190 for your $210 coin? That's a pretty poor business model, buddy. I mean, really, if you've had it long enough for the staples to rust, maybe it's time to reconsider your price.
