Found this Belgian coin. Looks like some extra dots in the date area (1 below right of 9, low left on the 6, and 1 centered at the bottom). The coin shows no distrubance on the other side. Any ideas on this?

Thanks

These coins are made of zinc, which is notoriously prone to all sorts of rot, cancer and corrosion. You can see a large pit above the T where a corrosion bubble has already burst. I'd be reluctant to classify the three blobs near the date as anything other than unbroken bubbles.

Good point. Thanks. I've never noticed this on other zinc coins I have, most of which are WWII vintage. Sounds like a good explanation.
