This 1937 d Walking Liberty half has me wondering if it is cleaned or showing die polish above E pluribus Unium. There does not seem to be any other signs of cleaning to me but your thoughts?

Does it stop at the edge of the devices or does it go over the top of them? If it is only the fields that are affected, then it is die polishing.

In addition, if it's actual die polishing you'll likely be able to see it noticeably heavier at the edges of the devices than in the open fields - it's a natural outgrowth of the polishing process at the edge of a "dropoff."

Thanks guys on your feedback. It looks like it is die polish as it does not go beyond E Pluribus Unum and it seems to have more at the junction there.
