I made and offer and the seller countered with his offer. I have till tomorrow to make up my mind. The seller's price is higher than I was initially prepared to pay, but it's been eating at me all day. I would like you opinions on the value of this coin. If it's close to the seller's price tag, I will most likely buy. SYRIA, Antioch. Nero, 54-68 AD. AR Tetradrachm of Caesarian Era Year 110 (61-62 AD.). Laureate bust / Eagle standing on thunderbolt. Toned VF. 14.88 gm

I was looking at that one too...I have the same one in lesser condition, its one of my favs. Great coin. You are wise to make an offer. I paid $85 for mine, the seller is a wee high but still fair. I would seriously get it. Chunky! Again I have said this before, its different when you choose a coin, but when the coin chooses you its special.... Do it or you will regret it

Thanks Anoob. But the seller was more than a tad high in his initial price. I think he might still be somewhat high. What price would you put on it?

Really nice looking coin, I think if you get this coin under $100 your getting a deal.

Almost zero legends? I'd skip it.

I love the eagle, Bing!! (also, a very attractive bust ... especially for Nero) Ummm, but as far as dougsmit's comment goes => I have zero clue about the legends, so I'd have to check/compare it against other examples to know what I'd be willing to pay. ... but overall, the coin has great eye-appeal!!

Does anyone else think this coin looks a bit unusual?
Also, it may be a trick of the light but on the obverse it looks like yellow metal is showing through the silver.
Dont want to put a dampener on things, I'm probably wrong as I seem to be in the minority but is everyone else happy with it?

I am worried that this is a modern cast fake. I have seen these dies before... I need to look around.

I can't find anything matching but something is screaming at me in my head that I have seen this coin discussed somewhere before. Martin

Jerry, you took the words right out of my mouth. "when there is doubt......". Since the seller counter-offered, I will just let this one pass. It may or may not be authentic, but I don't want the possibility hanging over the purchase. I will just keep looking for a nice Nero Tet. Thanks to all for the responses. It's threads like this that keep me from walking on the train track.
