Quote: Somehow, I doubt it but who knows for sure? Maybe this is due to the trunk portion of the web that you guys are located on? The weird thing is I was down by UVA the last few days and it was faster then it is at my house, but after a bit would slow down again. Thats not a bad theory but if that were true wouldnt other websites do that as well? For whatever reason for me at least my problem is with their site and their site only. When it happens on other sites I can close the window or reload and itll be faster next time, silvertowne however same speed.

Just checked and, while it wasn't the fastest site I've ever visited, I didn't find it obnoxiously slow. Yes, the database queries take awhile and could certainly be optimized, but again -- not THAT bad. Quote: If their prices werent significantly cheaper on some things I would never bother with it Out of curiosity, what things do you find them to be significantly cheaper on? I've been browsing around the site and so far haven't found ANYTHING that I can't find elsewhere for less (at leas, nothing I'm actually interested in buying).

Barry some of their graded 70s pcgs commems are a lot cheaper than anywhere else some close to 50%. Their prices are competitive with everything but unless its one of the graded items you wont really notice, theres not much they can do with the bullion ones

This problem does have a cause but it seems elusive. I'm not seeing it but believe that others are. As to the reason, none of us knows, hence the speculation.

Yeah, I don't go to places like that looking for graded coins (in fact, I don't go looking for graded bullion in the first place), so that's why I didn't notice any savings. Their regular bullion prices are in line with numerous other dealers, but significantly higher than goldmart (as long as you're not paying by credit card).

I stay away from the graded bullion as well but like it for numismatic coins. For their ungraded they have pretty good prices on the barber series as well. The one I got from them for my type set showed up in better than I expected condition. Like all sites though theyre hit or miss as theres definitely some things on there that can be found cheaper elsewhere. They just happen to line up well with some of my series for what their best deals are for me

On the original question - "Is it just my computer or does Silvertowne's site always run obnoxiously slow?" ------ In the last half-hour, I wanted to check availability of an unusual silver bullion coin, so I looked it up in all the Internet PM Dealer websites that I've got bookmarked - 28 in all... I literally flew into and all around inside 27 of the websites, but one of them froze up (on my second move inside the site), laid down and died in its tracks on me. Guess who. You guessed it - the one and only - ST strikes again!

Quote: Their regular bullion prices are in line with numerous other dealers... There are times when SilverTowne bars are out of stock at most dealers but SilverTowne itself will have some in stock. It is times like that when I really appreciate S-T. I collect S-T bars. So far, only the 5-oz. size but getting some 10-oz. bars would be awfully sweet.

Aside from their site I've had nothing but positive experiences with them
